New TH games are criticized by the people who know a lot about the TH series, but it doesn't mean it won't be sold awfully. The new (bigger) generation gamers buys the new series and thinks they are amazing. In the end it's all about the money.

32/100 from 26 game critics. they do write for newer generations and they probably never ever knew a lot about the series (in terms of gameplay mechanics, techniques, etc). HD did sold somewhat above expectations due to nostalgia factor. the so called thps5 reveals the real quality of the robomodo's product and activision's attitude towards newer games.
